AOLserver Administration

The following feature changes in server administration are included in AOLserver Version 3.0

New Administration interface via telnet control port: The NS/Admin forms interface for administering the server is no longer supported. There is a new control port interface that allows you to execute Tcl commands, OS commands, SQL commands, and vi to administer your server.

A new ns_menu Tcl function allows you to administer the server from the control port interface.

A new ns_cport Tcl function allows you to alternate between entering Tcl and SQL commands in the control port interface and perform other tasks with the control port.

New Access Control system: Users, groups, and permissions are now defined through a group of editable files.

AOLpress support removed: You can no longer administer AOLserver through AOLpress. Specifically, you cannot access the AOLserver administration page, set permissions on pages or Miniwebs, lock pages, or archive pages.
