Archive and Restore Pages

If you have archiving enabled on your server, AOLserver will archive the previous version of a page every time you save a new version of a page to the server. To enable archiving, set the Archive parameter in the [NS\Server\server-name\Module\nstext] section to "on" for the appropriate virtual server.

To view the previous versions of a page, open the page in AOLpress and choose Tools Administer Page Versions. A list of links to previous versions of the page is displayed, identified by the date and time they were created. Follow any of these links to view a specific previous version of the page. To restore a previous version, just save it as the current version.

Restore an archived page:
  1. To restore a previous version of a page, first open the page in AOLpress. Then choose the menu item Tools Administer Page Versions. This brings up a list of the previous versions of the page.

  2. You can look at any of the previous versions of the page by following the link for it. When you find a version you want to restore, choose File Save As and save the page with it's original URL name, not the name of the restored URL.

For example, suppose the page is http://www.avalon.com/users/j/joe/index.htm. If you follow one of the links to a previous version of that page, the URL might be something like:

http://www.avalon.com/NS/Archive/19951103092558/users/j/joe/index.htm.

In the Save As dialog, save it as http://www.avalon.com/users/j/joe/index.htm to make it the current version. Note that if you attempt to do this while the original page is still open, you will get an error, and you must close the original page to save the restored page under the same name.
