What is SSL?

AOLserver includes a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) module that allows you to encrypt communication sent across the Internet between an AOLserver and an SSL-enabled browser. SSL also provides authentication that clients are communicating with the correct server to prevent the client from contacting a fraudulent server. SSL also encrypts transferred data and verifies that it was not altered during the transfer.

The 40-bit export version of our SSL module is included with AOLserver. See the latest News which includes information about the SSL status.
